Temptations

Like so often, I have fallen into the dangerous trap of reorganising my files—it’s three hours later and the only thing I have to show for it is a more complete (but still spotty) understanding of Obsidian’s bases syntax. I’m a great fan of Obsidian, but I have to admit that I usually spend more time organising and configuring plugins and looking at the graph overview than writing.

Obsidian, Notion et al. are not bicycles.

The self-imposed busywork of productivity has greatly increased since the release of the AI assistants1. I’m going to be the first to admit that I love asking Claude to sort my downloads folder. Frankly, I could have just deleted all of it and redownloaded what I needed. If I have files in downloads for three years, they were not important, but there is something greatly pleasing about it—it’s light-weight, eats up hours, and you do have something to point to after.

One of my New Year’s resolutions was getting back into writing and I’ve done that, but I’ve done less writing than I would have liked.
